Alpha Square 6-Story Low Income Housing

Alpha Project built a new 6-story building at the corner of 14th and Market creating 203 new beds for low-income adults. This project is valued at $27 M and broke ground in April 2014 with a targeted completion in 18 months. The project is financed by Chelsea Investments, the City of San Diego and US Bank. Emerson is the General Contractor. HomeAid San Diego provided consultative services for building out the 3400 sf of retail space on the first floor which will house a pizza parlor and a personal grooming salon, bringing in a retail restaurant consultant at half the consulting fee. HomeAid San Diego presented Alpha Project with a check for $30,000 for this project through a partnership with the Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation. A ‘Topping Off’ ceremony was held the end of April to celebrate placing the “roof” on the building. The completion date was successfully met by the end of September 2015. The Grand Opening Ceremony was held on October 23, 2015 and the 203 beds were filled by January 2016.
