Casa de Amparo provides emergency shelter and care to children taken into protective custody due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Casa owns 11.43 acres in unincorporated San Marcos. HomeAid has adopted Phase 1 of the project which includes site development and infrastructure for the entire site, three residential cottage duplexes, each half housing six (6) children, and a child services center that will house two school rooms, counseling offices, recreational and meeting rooms, administration offices and apartments for emancipated foster youth.
Cost of construction was $8.4M. Builder Captain for the site work, Child Services Center and the cottages is Grant General Contractors. Approval of the MUP was granted on March 4th 2009 and the groundbreaking took place on November 16th 2010. Construction started in February 2011, was completed in March 2012 and was dedicated June 8, 2012. This project will add 58 new permanent beds.
