Building Futures for Homeless Youth: San Diego Youth Services

November 13, 2016

November is Homeless Youth Awareness Month

Did you know there are over 1,000 transition-age-youth and unaccompanied children living on the streets in San Diego County each day? Sadly, from the 2016 WeALLCount Point-in-Time Count, the numbers are up from 2015.

Did you know?…San Diego Youth Services has the only 24-hr shelter for homeless youth in the county; a drop-in center providing resources and basic needs for struggling youth; and an Outreach Team on the streets several nights a week providing homeless youth with water, snacks, hygiene kits, etc. We care and hare here to help!

San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) is a nationally recognized charity organization that since founded, has helped to improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of homeless, runaway, abused and at-risk youth and their families. Launched in 1970 when volunteers established one of the first runaway youth shelters in America, SDYS now provides intensive services to more than 16,000 children and their families each year. This nationally recognized agency offers emergency services, safe places to live and long-term solutions for kids “on their own” by providing shelters, group homes, foster homes, community centers and transitional housing. You can find out more information on San Diego Youth Services at

This Sunday, November 13th, 11:00am at The Lafayette Hotel you can show your support for homeless youth by joining us for a brunch concert when “teens sing for teens.” Songs For Shelter is packed full of young talent raising money for our youth living on the streets. Come and join us!
